It is a truth universally denied.
This is NOT a relationship blog.
Especially given the ironic fact that its owner (hell yeah, I OWN this site!) isn’t even in a relationship to begin with.
However, when Lisa sent me an email asking me to choose my 3 favorite posts to highlight along my new status as a 20SB finalist (btw, thanks for the nominations!), I had a clashing dose of reality. While not exactly a relationship blog, it was still pretty damn close to being one…I mean, if the bulk of last year’s posts is any not-so subtle indication.
Choosing favorites can be difficult for me when I try to write each post as if my blog could be represented by it alone. And in a sense, it’s sort of like the near-agony of choosing your favorite book. I enjoy so many! Only time will tell which remain my ultimate favorites, and even then who’s to say Time isn’t biased by my personally reminiscent Sentimentality?
Well, I eventually narrowed my top picks down to a whopping…8. This was after a much hair-pulling-worthy state of abulia, mind you:
- *What My Mother Taught Me About Sex
- *Thrill of the Ride
- *A Door is a Door is STILL a Door
- *What’s the Rush?
- To Be Honest
- Accidental Ridiculousness
- If I Swear My Hair Isn’t Asian…
- I Pledge To Be Lazy (Buddhism for the Laid-back Sort)
* In the end, I did manage to further trim the list down to 4, from which I must decide on the final 3 sometime tonight.
Lo and behold! They were ALL unapologetically relationship-related.
Back to square one.
Lovely.

Congratulations!
What My Mother Taught Me About Sex belongs in the top three, in my opinion. It was the second post of yours that I read, and I remember that’s what got me hooked.

Thanks, Lisa! Haha, I can’t remember which post of yours got me hooked…all I remember is loving your site so much that I read through all your archives, LOLs.

eh mine are mostly all about relationships, too, and I haven’t officially been in one since the end of freshman year. It’s just what humans think about, I guess…

Have you considered starting a bona fide relationship blog? Maybe it is your calling!

Dan, hahaha. Nah, I don’t think so. It’s one thing to write about relationship-related things occasionally (or..er, very often) and then another thing to writing it constantly. I think my impulsiveness would protest and rebel.

Meleah, oh jeez…it took me ages. I even put it off to “sleep” on it, and the next day, instead of eliminating one choice, I ended up adding another possibility!

Hey, congrats on your nom! And I just had to drop by and say, after seeing your comment on Michelle’s post today… I LOVED The Boxcar Children series. I had like every single book. I’ve never met anyone who liked them before… so… I figured you were worth checking out.

Hahaha, thanks!
To be honest, I hadn’t thought about the series I read as a child until she mentioned Sweet Valley. Boxcar Children brings back fond memories, it was one of the series that I was absolutely crazy about!

Congrats on some well-deserved nominations. When I get a sec, I’m going to take the time to read the bests of all the nominees I can, even if I already am familiar with them!
